It has often been said that a cold October leads to a mild winter with little snow, and so it proved in 2002. For the first time in a long time Cairngorm ski resort opened for business in October before going on to suffer one of it's worst ever seasons. Here are some shots of the snowy October conditions at Cairngorm that year.

So perhaps it's best to see more of mild weather this month!
