September photo competition - the final vote

Forget X Factor...forget Celebrity Come Dancing...this is the vote that counts.

I went to Center Parcs recently and did some archery with Jnr. I never hit the bullseye, but all my arrows did land within a very close grouping. Apparently this is the sign of a truely great archer, according to the instructor. What he meant was it was easy to get lucky now and then, but only really talented people could be consistently quite good. All my three photos got 6 votes each, meaning they all just missed out. Do you see the link?

Anyway, because I don't bear a grudge (and because I forgot to cheat) these are the photos which scored more than six votes, and there are seven of them (because so many were tied at the end of the initial voting). As Shuggee always says:-

There can be only one winner

This competition was for photos taken during September 2006.

One photo will become the winner from the eight finalists below.

Voting will end at 12 noon on Tuesday October 31st.

Voting is as simple as simply clicking in the poll for your favourite picture, these are the photos that made it through to the final round (in alphabetical order). So, take your pick from:-

I dunno, for some reason I'm loathe to vote for it, but Wibs' robin gets my "click".

And I thought I had the cute vote down pat with my squirrels.

Oh well, back to the CCD sensor....

Did that come across how you meant it to?!

To be honest I don't know how it's supposed to come across... It's technically brilliant, incredibly cute and a d*mn good picture to boot but somewhere at the back of my mind, something is sniggering at me for voting for it - nothing personal against Wibs - I just have this nagging impression that I shouldn't vote for it. Possibly because I have this natural "anti-popular" sentiment that makes going for what (in my mind) is the best photo by a mile (no offense to any of the other fine efforts) wrankle with me for some reason. It's possibly the same thing that stops me from ever buying an iPod....

Hope that helps - it doesn't help me much!

AFT 1 gets my vote, though all the pictures are stunning.

Thanks. I've a love/hate relationship with it. One minute I'm looking at something that's been run over with a jeep. At another I'm loving the mysterious, concealing darkness and the ducks that are paddling towards it in the gentle orange glowing light.

I didn't vote for my own because that wouldn't be proper but thanks to the five people so far who have voted for me. I'm chuffed! More please :p

leekay or wibs. I cannot make up my mind.

leekay, what a briliant result at light structure.

Wibs, so opportunistic, it is unbelievable to get this opportunity and even better to get to take this shot.

Had to go for Nick F for two reasons:

1) A nice reminder of what Autumn can be like

2) Nick is probably the most accurate of all in the comp, to be able to give me personal forecasts throughout the winter season, now that I have voted for him :)

Actually, all fantastic photos :)

All beautiful, quality photos but I've opted for Louby's

acorn just turning in colour. As Lady P said, so representative of

the month of September. With the drip of water too

it seems perfect for a weather site calendar :-)

Incidentally, apologies for my not choosing a selection of

5 this time, my comp. was out of action for a whole week

due to a nasty virus :-( And I had wanted to vote for OON

this time too ! Awww.

Cheers,

Beverley Lass x
