good afternoon all.

i am currently learning all the clouds and there names.

if any one has any photos of clouds then could they post them.

this could also be useful for anyone else learning.

i wil start:

i have this photo of a cloud taken in ryde but i dont know the name of it, if anyones knows it would be a great start.

That's a cumulonimbus. If a cloud has a fluffy top and dark base it is usually defined as a cumulus, but if it reaches the ice crystal formation (usually noted when the top of the cloud has a flatter appearance, often with trails of precipitation visible from it) then it's a cumulonimbus.

Here we have Stratocumulus a lower level cloud pic 1... and an Altocumulus which is a middle level cloud and 2 silver birch trees in the 2nd pic.

I rather liked this one yesterday, i stopped what i was doing especially to photograph it.

I really like that 1st photo that Russ has posted all types of clouds there from cumulus and stratocumulus just above the lower thicker cumulus cloud,then altocumulus just above the trees on the right...then cirrus and cirrostatus on the top end of the photo.

Mammatus Cloud: Falling cold air though moisture laden levels produces these 'upside down' clouds

Kelvin-Helmholtz Cloud, caused by wind shear, these sometimes form if the conditions are right

Noctillucecnt Cloud. These are summer events when electric blue clouds illuminate the night sky
