very disspointed that nothing was issued for scotland last night with winds up to 70mph

Highest gust I can find for last night was 58mph in stornoway, it's also important to remember that high winds in the western and northern isles are very common, so issuing an alert for every occasion this may occur would be overkill - the same as issuing alerts and warnings for high winds and snow at the top of the scottish mountains for instance.
