Relative Pressure Setting?

Hallo all, Santa has been very kind this year and has given me a Technoline WS9115, which is nice and simple - we thought. Set-up went fine, sensor in garden sensing away (took a long time to settle down after having been under the tree in a warm sitting room for a week) and seems bang on. But I can't work out how the pressure should be set or how it is supposed to work. I've googled till I'm dizzy but no enlightenment. It's probably something so simple everyone just knows it, except me..... :D

When the station was switched on the 'Relative Air Pressure Value' showed 1015, apparently a default setting. I imagined it would adjust itself in due course, just as the temperature and humidity values had, but nothing happened. I then thought perhaps I have to set it at the current pressure and it takes it from there, so I set it at 1025 which was what the old aneroid barometer was reading (and which matched a nearby station at Chislehurst). But nothing has happened at all, it still shows 1025 though Chislehurst now shows 1024. It is also supposed to show 24 hours worth of trend, and although it's now been on for nearly 12 hours, the bar graph is just scrolling meaninglessly along - is it too early to say, is it supposed to move like that? Does anyone here have a similar station and know what is supposed to happen? I'm mystified....

It would probably be best to wait until the weather changes and then report back- the pressure is very steady here at the moment at (believe it or not) 1025mb, so the weatherstation could be correct. If it doesn't change with the depression this weekend then you have a problem. Someone else may be able to help but there may be nothing wrong as the pressure is steady at the moment.

Welcome to the forum Katie

Hi there. Pressure here at the moment is 1022.0 hPa, and has been so all day since around 1030am. It hasnt moved much more than +/- 2 hPa, so the fact that your station isnt changing at the moment at least seems normal.

Pressure should start to drop after tomorrow afternoon in your location, so then would be a good time to check. I should imagine the pressure will be at around 1015 hPa by 6pm.
