Data Feeds

Do any weather sites use feeds from amateur weather stations or do they tend not to because they don't know if they are properly calibrated? If they do, should they pay anything to the data provider?

I think it would be interesting to have a weather station but it seems quite an expensive outlay, has anyone any suggestions?

I think there are some sites (such as XCweather and weatherunderground) who will use feeds from personal stations, but I don't think you'll find any that will pay you for the data I'm afraid
