WEATHER ALERT

ADVANCED WEATHER WARNING

Category: 2

Weather type: Snow and Cold

Affecting: Entire UK

Date Valid For: Sunday 00:00 to Wednesday 12 noon

Discussion:We expect that the weather will turn very cold into next week, with some precipitation around in places. Pin pointing exact details at this stage is difficult, but it looks like there could be quite a lot of shower activity and more organised snow for a time accross most of the UK. Areas most at risk are: the North, the West, and the East in general. Monday is a day to watch in the South, as a channel low could bring a period of heavy snow to upland areas in the South, although this is unsure at this stage. We expect Tuesday to be snowy for many in the North, West, and East, but again, detail is sketchy. There could be some more organised snow for many on Tuesday though, as fronts push South.

Along with the risk of snow, there comes a risk of widespread and severe frosts, with freezing fog at times, and icy surfaces, especially when things start to settle down and winds fall light.

Stay tuned for more detailed updates later.

Confidence Level: (75%)

Note: This alert should be considered a guide and we strongly recommend you stay tuned to the Met-Office for further warnings and updates.

Expect further updates as and when needed.
