Hello all

My name is Dimitris ,my area is Peristeri 3 miles away west of center at Athens.

My hobby is meteorology and weather stations.

I hope to put it in the correct thread .

This days i have starting to make a Stevenson screen box.The size it is 30 cm x 30 cm x 47 cm high.

I put over and down the roof with insulant material, for to cut the high temperatures the summer time inside to Stevenson screen .I hope to is ok the summer and do not need to put inside fan ,if no i put inside one fan .

Welcome to the site Dimitris.

Your Stevenson screen is looking good! However, if you put a fan inside it, won't it affect the temperature readings? :)

Hello Paul and thank you

If it need to put inside a fan ,i will put it not to it throw air over to temp-hum sensor, but i will put in near the roof the over side to Stevenson screen for to suck the hot air and to remove the hot air out side .And all this only the summer time where we have high temps :rolleyes:

I'd say a fan would be essential, Dimitris, as your screen has only single louvered sides. There was some research done in Britain years ago comparing the temperature readings of screens with single louvred sides with the standard Stevenson screen which has double louvred sides. The readings obtained from the single louvred screens were consistently higher, by as much as 2-3c on days with strong sunshine and little wind, even in winter.

Bearing in mind the strength of the sun in Athens I reckon without a fan your readings could be several degrees too high due to solar insolation reflecting into the screen through the single louvres.

Ah right, I see! Makes sense now! :wallbash: Yes, I'd think a fan will be essential in Athens in summer time as Terminal Moraine says.

Hello again.Thank you Moraine for this useful informations.I and beleive all this you are say.

Before i put inside fan i thought to put over and down to the roof a material insulant with 4 clips for the winter to put out of the roof ,and i will see if yet at summer time i have problem i put one fan inside .It want many experiment for the correct temp.

One question ,do you beleive if my Stevenson screen if it was double size it will be better or no ? because i have see and other stevenson screen the same almost size.

Hello all

I finish complete the Stevenson Screen box ,for fan i do many test and i found the better way for correct temp ,i take a plastic tube inside will it is the sensor, and the top i put a fan iτ suck air from

sensor and gives above.

Because here to Greece yet,is not there are manny shops with solar

energy,only for big installations.

Ι use a AC/DC power 12V 1A and with remote switch on-off ,i open-

closed it manual with remote control !lol!!.

Here i have all the photos
