Crocus behaviour

:o We have one solitary purple crocus on our back lawn (the last remnant of a dodgy batch of bulbs bought 5 or so years ago  ). Since it first opened a week ago it has opened when in sunlight and closed up when shaded which is normal flower behaviour.

Yesterday morning it was bent right over having suffered somewhat in the harsh frost, but with a few hours in sunlight it perked up and opened through the afternoon.

Then, quite differently to previous days/nights, it remained open into the evening and was still open at 06.00 this morning but this time, despite another harsh frost, it was not bent over.

And now this afternoon, with the sun having started to set, the flower is closing up for the night just like it did previously.

Any explanations? Did it respond to moonlight yesterday evening? Or was it trying something to help itself survive better - something that would seem to have worked.
