Some pics of the sunset while I was out looking for damage caused by the earthquake.I was only 5 miles from the epicentre so the shaking was very strong.I was up looking at my watch when I could here a loud rumble and shaking sound. Then the ground just started to move up and down. I could here all my books on the shelf come falling down and plates downstairs rattling. Thank god it was over quickley. The only damage in my house is some cracks on the walls.Along the side of our local stream you can see where the land has slipped down only by a foot along with small areas of the path cracked and broken down.

Anyway I quite enjoyed the event but my mum was very shaken.

My brother was at the epicenter of the 84 earthquake yet slept through it, I was 80 miles away and got the wobbly blancmange feeling

Don,t forget to fill out a report on the BGS site http://www.earthquakes.bgs.ac.uk/

Thanks for posting those good pictures too.

Regards,

Russ

Have you measured the displacement?

Hi

I measured the displacement, its 30cm and in some parts 40-50cm. I thought there was another one last night the winds were so strong.
