Managed to catch my first (known) sighting of Mercury last night, and even captured it on camera ;)

It wasn't easy to spot at first amongst the high level clouds on the horizon and without the Moon as a guide I might not have found it. Unfortunately the Moon is moving further away so making it less useful now, but look for the first reddish 'star' to appear, low on the western horizon, a bit south of where the Sun set. These shots were taken at 9.45pm last night:

Yes - low in the south-east before dawn.
