Strensall common is an area that I am very familiar with.

My little lad loves to see the sheep which often wander in the middle of the road :D

Yes I agree mate

I know this area very well and having veiwed the pics again, I like them even more.

I think the picture with the sunset and the owl is simply superb.

It's shots like these that remind me I am fortunate to live where I do. :)

Yes we are both spoiled for unique habitats, picturesk villages, areas of outstanding natural beauty, special area of conservation, nature reserves ancient forests, moorlands, dales so on right on our door steps.

The owl was about 200m from the house, not seen it for a while, but there was one that regular flew past. Strensall common is on route when visiting family and always worth stopping for s stroll. I can imagine large parts of the Vale of York looking like Strensall common hundreds or thousands of years ago. I think its a very rare habitat now with so much farm land.
