They can be no Little Ice Age in our lifetimes - we're actually in a period of high global temps (for whatever reasons) and I doubt we'll shift to the other extreme overnight.

The confusion lies with periods such as the Maunder Minimum and Dalton Minimum when there was low solar activity which occured during the LIA and saw temps fall even further. Similar periods of low solar activity would have occured during the preceding MWP - and it's those which provide the best analogy should such a minimum occur today.

My guess is a worse case scenario of ........ 1970s

btw Baltic, I've just read that PDF and when I read this:

The intent of the global warming scare is to reduce world population. That is

the stated intent of its initiators and of such important promoters of this and related

anti-science scares as the World Wildlife Fund, founded by Britain’s Malthusian

Prince Philip and former Nazi SS officer Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands. Isn’t it

time to stop being a sucker for the fear- mongering of people with another

agenda—a very evil agenda whose end result will be the reduction of world

population from its current level of 5 to 6 billion to less than 2 billion souls, with

the concomitant dissolution into perpetual war, famine and human misery that

such a plan must entail?

I know we're in kooky wierdo conspiracy theory territory :(

Yup there has been longer periods of inactivity between cycles but if we move beyond these then what???? What you can say this is interesting.

I think now were either in or about to enter the quietest period of solar activity in 200 years. And still no indications that solar cycle 24 is going to ramp up...

Must admit I took a couple of large steps backwards when I came to the paragraph you quoted.

Anyone, scientist or otherwise who projects a full blown ice age, and mini ice age or otherwise, is at this current moment in time, as likely to be correct as one who may predict full blown global warming. Those who are sceptical of global warming, should also be equally sceptical of ice ages.

I don't believe a word of it, whether it's in a scientific journal or not..
