The Met Office’s Stephen Holman said that after the week- long storms “temperatures will fall away and we will see a return to the frost and freezing conditions that we saw last week.

A very wet start in combo with very heavy traffic (fair weather crew in their cars + students back this morning). Much much milder so, despite getting wet legs it was nice to not feel like the michelin man in all my layers!

Gosh it's warm. Feels like Spring after the sub-zero temps (which I prefer to rain and mud). My pond is still covered with ice, although I can now spy a tiny area of water. I hope the koi carp have survived.

I had to laugh in the little garage shop in town, customer in front was talking to assistant about the festive period, and how it was dry and cold, to which the assistant said 'lovely wasn't it, better than this rubbish!'.

I couldn't agree more.

Frost lifted overnight as less cold air arrived and the temperatures rose to 4.7c. The morning dawned overcast, but still feeling chilly with a strong southerly wind gusting to 30mph. The temperature continued to rise through the day, so by the end of the afternoon it had become quite mild at 8.7c. The wind continued to blow strong from the south with gusts reaching 32mph. Dry through daylight hours.

After a very windy night - it's a lot quieter with wind speeds of around 13mph.

Had sunshine and showers a little earlier, but it's become increasingly cloudy as the afternoon has progressed
