Britain's Highest Waterspout

Britain's highest waterspout was believed to be the Spithead Waterspout that occurred off Ryde on the Isle of Wight on the 21st of August 1878. It was measured by sextant and believed to have been about one mile in height. The highest waterspout reliably recorded was the Eden Waterspout of 16th May 1898 that occurred off Eden New South Wales and was measured by theodolite to have been about 1528m in height.
