Wow! Brazell (London) had rainfall at 7.21 ins for the month, or 419% of average, with the 13th as the wettest day, 1.51ins of rainfall. Perhaps surprisingly, Brazell had the number of dry days for the month at '20', so the rainfall was clearly confined within 1/3 of the month, leaving the remaining 2/3 dry.

My closest experience was the Spring Bank Holiday 1984 when it didn't seem to stop raining in Kent from Saturday morning until Tuesday morning. '1903' was being quoted at the time, but I think it stopped raining for a short while in 1984 and total rainfall was nowhere near 1903. A miserable Bank Holiday experience nevertheless and not helped by the clear blue skies and sunshine further north in England.
