I'm hearing a lot about these types of systems being the next big 'green' thing and the government back them as ways of combating 'climate change'.

Now this is probably a totally ridiculous question but if all of us adopted these heat pumps for our homes, would this have the effect of actively creating 'climate change' by lowering the outside ground and air temps during the winter periods and if that happened, would these pumps still work as effectively if our winters were artificially colder due to their increased takeup.

It's a probably a drop in the ocean compared to the massive thing that is climate but I'm wondering that if the take-up was sufficient, could it make a difference?

Apologies if it is a stupid question from someone with no science background, it just made me wonder.
