WEATHER ALERT

THIS IS A FURTHER UPDATE TO THE ALERT ISSUED ON FEBRUARY 24TH 2004:

Category: Level 2 Warning

Weather type: Snow, frost and ice

Affecting: Whole of the UK

Dates Valid For: 09:00 Friday 27th February to 09:00 Monday 01st March 2004

Discussion: Following on from the earlier alert ( http://www.net-weather.co.uk/forum/viewtop...opic.php?t=5466 ), we expect conditions to remain cold and wintry across much of the UK as we head through the weekend.

Snow showers this morning over Northern and Eastern Scotland, Northern Ireland, Eastern England, Southeast England and the far Southwest will continue at times. Further snow showers are possible almost anywhere during Friday though. Accumulations will be moderate (5-10cm in places), especially in those places exposed to Northerly winds.

Over the weekend, snow showers are likely to become more restricted to eastern and then southeastern areas as the winds veer more northeasterly and as pressure rises in northern and western parts.

In addition, ice will be a problem as temperatures fall rapidly overnight in all areas giving widespread and moderate to severe frosts.

Due to the unpredictable nature of this set-up, please stay tuned to Net-Weather for possible flash updates as the developing situation becomes clearer.

Confidence Level: (80%)

Note: This alert should be considered a guide and we strongly recommend you stay tuned to the Met-Office for further warnings and updates.

Expect further updates as and when needed.
