This occurs when the radar data from the met-office doesn't arrive properly for a timeslot, there have been one or two issues with corrupt files lately which would cause it, plus we've had server downtime this morning which will have meant a few missing frames too.

Yes I've just noticed that on flicking through the radar images, from last nights heavy showers.

EDIT: just see your reply Paul.

NW Radar seems to be stuck at 2150 hrs...anyone else experiencing this, or just me?

Hmm strange. I can't view member profiles either. Can you?

I updated Firefox at around 8.40 and this has all happened since then.

Just wondering why the radar is suddenly showing all snow rather than the rain and sleet it was about 5 mins ago.

22:25 shows rain over the sea but then 22:30 shows all snow?

Yeah, I noticed that too- must be an error surely?

Also, it was raining here earlier when the precip type showed snow.

The weather type isn't 100% accurate in every situation, it would be impossible for it to be so, particularly in a borderline situation where one location may have snow and another just a matter of metres higher or a little way down the road could have rain/sleet.

We've recently upgraded the system and it's offering a much more detailed and accurate view than the previous version though..

Thanks Paul, I know there are limitations with radar, just wanted to double check.

The Metoffice have been doing some maintenance on their systems this morning (something to do with the firewall), which knocked out the data transfer to us for a bit, but it's back up and catching up now..
