When do you think your location will see:

    1.The first ground frost?

    2.The first Snowfall?

    3.The first sub-zero night?

I am going to punt at this:

    1. 15th September

    2. 22nd November

    3. 20th November

Just a bit of interest and let's see if anyone can get one right or more! You can't have punts weeks after this though as it will be easy!! :(

My lowest night temp was the 29th when it dropped to 7.6c but i also had 5 other nights that recorded between 8-9c.

    1. ground frost- 18th september

    2. snowfall - november 20th

    3. sub zero night - 30th september

They may seem early but looking at my altitude and checking meto mapped averages we have around 4 ground frosts in sept and 1 air frost so i think its a good estimategood.gif

Well in complete contrast, I would like to be anywhere else in the UK apart from where I am at the moment. Its rubbish here in Southport for any severe weather apart from wind. We are especially well known here for not having any snowfall in Winter.

    As for the date guessing;

    1. 29th September

    2. 3rd December

    3. 1st November

That's pretty low for August! All the cloud cover here recently has insured it has remained in double figures. Most night's have been 11.5-12c. 14.5c here currently so maybe a bit cooler tonight.

My Aunt lives in Inverness and by the sounds of it that is the best place to be for snow and very very low temperatures if you are outwith the town which is closer to sea level.

I had a couple of nights under 10C, one of them dropped to 7.9 middle of last week, was a lovely morning, nice and cool totally clear. The only other comment is I'm not sure how accurate the thermometer is, seems to read high during the day, so may read low at night

Frost will be late November, snowfall probably mid to late December and sub zero night late December or into January (it's hard to get that cold here!).

    1. ground frost- 29th october

    2. snowfall - february 9th

    3. sub zero night - 18th november

im expecting fairly mild autumn overall, and early snow seems to be very much the exception rather than the rule in these parts.

We have down here in Cardiff in all 3 months of the summer

6c in June, 8c in July and 9c in August, thats offical weather station.

Where i live if you know Cardiff at all there is a hilly area in the North border of the county where land rises to 1007ft, the temperture here reached 7.1c the other night, constantly getting below 10c on clear night i do live in on a steep valley though which doesnt get much sun and it gets very cold here in winter and snow sticks around for days nd days. For me first ground frost around 28th september here i would say and below freezing 15th October, first snow end of november.
