Well the great storm never turned up but I think I was too far south anyway. Just the run of the mill blow in October nothing special. However it's the longest period of winds for two years. Last winter we didn't get any stormy weather at all. Just a brief few puffs along fronts.

9.6C here at the moment after a max of 14.2C. Was quite breezy earlier, gusting to around 50km/h, but fairly still at the moment.

Still no measurable rainfall, which makes it 25 days in a row without a single day of 0.5mm or more, by far the longest dry spell since I started recording this year. Doubt it will last too much longer though!

Though yesterday brought persistantly unsettled wet weather, today has felt like the first proper day of true autumn weather.

We awoke to heavy rain and strong winds and although the rain quickly cleared, this afternoon was peppered with frequent heavy albeit short downpours and some very gusty winds making it all feel really quite cold. I notice a few scarves and hats about for the first time this season.

A good traditional feeling autumn day.

The day started mostly cloudy with light rain moving in, depositing a total of 0.5mm. It then turned brighter with clear spells during the evening. It was quite a mild one for October, with a max of 16.4C but it felt rather cool in the strong wind.

Currently partly cloudy with a temperature of 10.8C, the dewpoint is just 4.9C indicating the cooler upper air, but the strong wind is preventing a cold night.
