Yeah I know....the anticipation now is really growing! I'll be happier when all through customs etc and with the guys at the cars and seeing all the barons etc in action! Until I'm through the airport security etc I won't be able to relax (don't know why - nothing to hide - I just always worry that they are going to find a reason to hold me up/not let me through, lol)

Hi All,

Not long to go now!

Just a few questions as usual!

Ok - Tour 2 - is anyone on the BA flight from Heathrow at 11.40 on the 8th May? Just wondering if I'll be on my own?

I'm on that flight too Jo if you want to meet somewhere.

I know what you mean Harry about the security/customs etc. I'll be happy when I walk of the airport doors over there and it's all done, and it's time to go chasing!

Nearly ready! I will be packing very shortly. I look forward to seeing you all. I aim to get to Heathrow in plenty of time tomorrow. I will probably bump in to Andy P at some point, and I will let you know when I get there Harry. Less than 18 hours to go! :yahoo:

Some impressive kit lists!

I'm travelling a bit lighter than planned as I wasn't able to get the HD broadcast cam for the weeks I am touring, but I still will be weighed down with :

Canon 1D MKIIN

Canon EOS 300 as a back up

Panasonic Lumix pocket cam

Sigma 10-20 EX

Sigma 70-200 EX

Sigma 1.4x extender (saves taking the longer zooms)

Remote shutter releases

Spare batteries

A pile of SD and CF cards

1Gb External disc

samsung Notebook

MS GPS (Pharoah)

zoom gorilla pod and compact

flash gun

assorted cables and power options

add to that some clothes, money, cards and documents

Not sure if I'll get away with just hand luggage......

My bag is too big for BA's hand luggage policy sad.gif 70cm's tall, I think 35 wide but very, very thin as it's quite empty. I'd say it's half full when the straps are pulled tight. Thought about downsizing to get in in hand luggage but BA's policy for hand luggage is 56cms high, 45cms wide and 25cms deep and you're only allowed one piece of hand luggage and one handbag/laptop case.

I don't think my stuff would fit in that.

If I have my trolley bag at lease I'll have loads of spare space for duty free and maybe a few of the tripods that would otherwise have been left in a field as mentioned above, so, if anyone has anything they want to stick in my bag at the end of tour two (thats legal and fits around all of the cowboy boots, of course - LOL) you're more than welcome. We can swap out when we get back to the UK.

Hi Jo

I'm carrying the expensive bits hand luggage, spare batteries/chargers etc I'm going to risk in the hold, along with the tripod. My main camera is a bit of a beast, so I'm still deliberating on taking a sturdier tripod to cope with it, or maybe stay close to the ground/car roof etc using a sandbag.

A handy hint for using tripods in windy conditions, attach a couple of those wrist/ankle velcro weights to the lower legs to help with stability

Well,

I'm surprised - I must be the world best packer! Everything I had before now fits in a hand luggage sized bag, give or take a few centremeters. :whistling:

I even bought a couple of those space saver bags you can push all of the air out of and haven't used them.

Yay me.

Here's a handy hint for all.....

Roll your clothes - Don't fold. Takes up sooo much less room. You'll be shocked!

Happy packing. :)

Wohooo

My sigma 10-20mm lens arrived, also got that cable release from HK, think I am all set on the technical side of the gear!

Just need to make sure I have got enough clothes and buy some shorts and I am good to go. Less that a week to go!

Almost done here, just need a bag to put my stuff in. The one I had last year got ripped on the plane coming home!

My Casio EX-F1 arrived on Friday so I'm looking forward to playing with that out there.

Thanks for that tip Jo, I hate packing I'll be leaving that until Friday night but I'll certainly try rolling up my clothes.

Can't wait now, just want to get on the plane. Models looking interesting too!

Oh my,

Had to re-packed for the hundredth time - gone back to the big bag as I'm happier taking that than trying to carry a smaller heavier bag across london, along with my not so light hand luggage of laptop and camera. Bonus - can slip these in the case and remove at the airport so nothing to carry on the tube - yay :yahoo:

Not to mention I need the wheels with my bust knees, back and shoulder after a fall on the weekend. :doh:Doah!

Will be all better by sat though I hope. Hopeing my knees have reverted from black back to their normal colour or I'm going to look very amusing in shorts! LOL:D
