New Yorks Wet Summer Last Year

last july new york had one of its wettest summers and july had about 10 inches of rain! which is about 300m of rain. This is almost similar to the totals of what some parts of our country have had in the recent wet summers. What i want to ask is, will all of that rain fallen day to day, like the summers over here, where you just get 7 days of rain a week or days upon days of rain or would the amounts come from very heavy downpours or big falls of rain through the day? also would the effect of that wet summer, feel similar to our wet summers if we were there. like if i went there when they had all that rain, would it have still felt much dryer or would the weather have felt the same as over here in the wet summers.

what i mean is, would there opinion of the wettest summer, feel quite dry to us, because new york usually has good summers.
