possibly a small glacial flood occurring at katla? tremor has just shown a sudden sharp increase

Yes, Jon Frinman has just added some info on his blog too.

wow! impressed myself with that! it was just an educated guess from watching the tremor and earthquake charts and how they have acted under previous circumstances. just shows what you can learn!

There's been a M2.8 in the caldera, it may be related to a possible sharp rise in harmonic tremor discussed in the comments section of Jon Frimann's latest blog post (although there is some debate about whether this was a false reading or not.)

Linkage ahoy.

i would like to ask something, all this is very interesting, but a concern to, has there been a sudden increase in volcanic/earthquake activity over the last few months? reading these threads its seem that their has? even small shakers in the english channel, all sounds unusual to me and i don't study this science, although i might get a bit more into it, as it is not only very important to study but rather exciting to!

Neither have I, but it's one of the beauties of Netweather, we are all learning.

Seems to have settled a bit now, nothing in the last 4-5 hours

details about volcano range in that area

it could just be plates but that 4 quake was very close to

Reykjaneshryggur Submarine volcanoes.

Yes, it's very interesting John. Although I would prefer a land volcano to erupt as there is much more to see!

to add to yamkins post regarding indonesia watch

from link above

The Bukittinggi Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation Agency reported on Saturday that volcanic activity at the 2,900-meter-high Mount Marapi in West Sumatra remained high. “Volcanic activity at Mt. Marapi remains high even though seismic activity has decreased,†he said. The volcano erupted at 8:09 a.m., spewing thick ash clouds 300 meters into the air. Agam Regent Indra Chatri filmed the eruption from Candung, not far from Bukittinggi, and posted it on the Internet. The head of the Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation Center, Surono said in Jakarta on Saturday that officials had increased the alert for Mt. Marapi and 15 other volcanoes across Indonesia. Other volcanoes include Mt. Papandayan in West Java, Mt. Merapi in Central Java, Mt. Sinabung in North Sumatra, Mt. Krakatau in the Sunda Strait, Mt. Bromo in East Java and Mt. Gamkonora, Mt. Gamalama and Mt. Tukono in Maluku, he said. Jambi volcanologist Heri Prasetyo said Mt. Kerinci was still on heightened alert

Just been looking at the Santorini and Krakatoan eruptions and i was just curious why in the space of around 100 years, Krakatoa has gone from 300 metres beneath the surface to 300 metres above while Santorini took around 3000 years to break back through the surface and has only increased by around 150 metres since 1700.
