Up to 1967, this was the Whitsun Bank Holiday which fell 7 weeks after Easter. From 1967, it was fixed to the last Monday in May. In 1977 and 2002, the Bank Holiday was moved to early June for the Silver and Golden Jubilees celebrations.

Not surprised to see 2007 come bottom of the list. That has to be one of the worst bank holidays ever.

I believe that was the second coldest May day on record for London (maximum of 8C at Heathrow; just 6.4C at Whipsnade): the fact that it occurred at the end of the month is truly unbelievable.
