"The Met Office has demonstrated its ability and commitment to deliver a high-quality service - through accuracy, consistency of data and flexibility."

Where do ITV get there forecasts from and especially their weather presenters? They seem to be forecasting weather for another planet.

But they don't get recent data and the presentation is more on the person delivering it than what the actual forecast really is. Dreadful too watch. The Beeb forecast is still the best despite attempts too take down to lowest common denominator.

I've seen various sources on the BBC & ITV forecasts over the last few years, trying to pin down the causes of the apparent dumbing-down, and it appears to stem largely from BBC/ITV and not the Met Office, so it strikes me as unlikely that changing to a different provider would help matters.

I don't think any other organisation can beat the MetO's 3-7 day forecasts- some may be comparably good, but none clearly better.
