That thing over reading is heading my way... its cloudy here and muggy looks like a eairley heads up today for me.drinks.gif..:drinks:

And its starting to grow, something to watch for later as it already has a strike on it according to NW Radar and star strike :) probally has alot of thunder and lightning and a few strikes anyway check it out :)

It is makeing a sort of tail, I think that will form to be more solid and gain power and become electrical as the system moves south towards portsmouth and brighton... although haveing 0 cape could make it a small shower :cray:Although it seems to be growing and makeing its self bigger and more powerfull, I do hope the tail that is forming will swing round... Thats if it even forms allthough it is roughly forming :)

The whole system has changed it is all moveing south verry slowly and growing bigger and more powerfull this could be the day of wide-spread thunder storms :)

There seems to be something moveing over the channel without rain but with thuner !!!

I'm affraid i will have to agree allthough if anything dose form then it will grow, also there is something moveing the channel according to this http://www.ukstorms.com/ on the Lightning Data page :'(

There is a small cell forming linked with alot of rain 3B is recorded this is getting more powerfull.

It's lost its power and just heavy rain could have a few flashs...

Hmm...not looking too great for us in the SE (oh surprise)...though some very early starters across northern France, some of them looking quite potent and quite electrical!

Got to say not liking the look of the Models for the rest of July - Another of those quiet cloudy periods coming up with some heat building next week only for it to go out with what looks like a whimper again. This really has been an appalling summer for storms, you cant even really say yesterdays were any more than Thundery showers with most places receiving between 1 and 5 Rumbles of thunder (Tamworth and a few places in Suffolk excluded)

This will be the first time in my 37 years that I have not had what I would class as a Thunderstorm during April to July in the Uk or what constitutes a Thunderstorm (It does not even have to be Severe to meet that criteria)

Expecting a few "Thundery Showers" today but once again very very poor.

RIP Summer 2010 :drinks:

Late Autumn seems to be more active than the whole of summer these days.

Oh well, only another 9 months for you and then you'll see the Real McCoy.

Might finish work early today see if I can catch a funnel along expected sea breeze convergence towards Channel coast this afternoon.

Good luck Nick

Thinking if anything does throw up a funnel it will be from Herne through Ashford down towards Hastings way - The old classic North Sea Breeze pushing up against inland flow or vice versa further south. Seem to remember you had some luck on a similar Saturday a few years ago with a nice funnel in similar conditions.

Work for me :cray:

Its really muggy outside it just needs something to spark it off just a shower could turn thundery. It is also verry cloudy.

Yes, June last year caught a funnel near Ashford that formed along a sea-breeze convergence:

Maybe around the 28th, but nothing attractive otherwise

I might do the same, see you somewhere on the Kent/Sussex coastal border then!

Surface heating should set off a few heavy showers and perhaps isol TS across parts of W & E Sussex, and Kent today. A sea breeze convergence zone should set-up close to the coast, with a chance of a few funnels. I suppose a weak, brief tornado cannot be ruled out, but low-level buoyancy seems to be lower than yesterday.

Interestingly TORRO have updated their page with a 'no thunderstorms forecast' so that must back up Paul Knigthley's low expectancy for today

Can't see the 2 fingers any ore but 1 big dangleing lump in the sky...

It's rotating verry slowly and thinning fast...

Something is going to drop soon, I've got my spare camera as my other is in jessops and my trusty gorrila pod :cray: its all set

Its really close to dropping something now,

I'll wait for the GFS update and then watch the radar. I'll pop home at lunch, grab the satnav and camera and see whats what. My punt is for further inland from there though Coast. Roughly draw a line from Lewes to Ashford but lets wait and see. Sometimes these setups produce a suprise and I missed that funnel in Ashord 2 years ago as I was on the wrong side of the storm! :cray:
