A very warm month but not exceptionally so. The warmest month since 2006. Since December 2003 only August 2004 and July 2006 have been hotter. By night it's equal to August 2004 as the 2nd hottest.

21c and 27c with only 1 day hotter and 3 days cooler than between those figures. Of the 48mm rainfall almost half fell on the 24th

and most of that in one mid-afternoon downpour!

The second warmest July since my records began in 1982 and the second driest in the last 10 years. The month was generally very warm throughout but more so in the first half. The first 10 days were notable for the exceptionally high minima. The low of 18.3C on the 2nd was the joint warmest of any month in the last 28 years and highest ever recorded in July. The max temps of 28.1°C and 28.9°C on the 9th and 10th were both warmer than at any time since August 2006.

It then went downhill slightly with a mixture of warm and cooler days but still very mild nights. There was rain observed on 11 consecutive days from the 12th - 22nd though amounts were always very low. The heat then returned briefly on the 19th with a maximum of 26.7°C and some more very muggy nights. The only single figure minima of the month was observed on the 24th when 8.9°C was reached - making it the lowest July reading since 2004 and only 2°C off the record. The final days were mainly average and showery though humidity was generally high due to persistent cloudcover.

Overall, a very warm and dry July but disappointing in regards to the low amount of sunshine and high frequency of small amounts of rainfall.

My stats for central Reading:

Average maximum: 23.9

Average minimum: 15.2

Average for month: 19.5

Highest maximum: 29.4 (July 9)

Lowest maximum: 19.2 (13)

Highest minimum: 18.6 (2)

Rainfall: no data available for this site; Reading University shows around 45mm for the month, which is around average for this area. Most of the rain fell in heavy showers.

A warm month, with daytime and night time temperatures above average. A month of mixed weather, with no prolonged settled or unsettled spells. I don't have any sunshine data for this area but think the month would show a little below average.

My stats for the small village of Harpford, East Devon:

About average overall temperature wise, perhaps slightly above. A lot drier than the last 2 July's. Not as good as June for sunshine with amounts slightly below average compared to the very sunny June. One very warm day on the 9th but no notably hot weather. A low developing and moving NE/NNE through the Irish Sea late on the 15th brought some strong winds for the time of year and some heavy rain in the afternoon/evening.

July 2010 Summary and statistics, Llanwnnen, Lampeter

Summary

Dull and wet, average temperatures.

A poor Summer month after the expectations raised by such a good May and June here. Not as wet as last July (213mm), but few really sunny days and a total lack of any heat (highest reading of 22.4c on the 10th). Saying that there was not much in the way of really cool conditions either, the lowest maximum being 17.2c on the 18th.

Rain fell frequently and was very heavy at times. 6 days had over 10mm, the wettest being 41mm on the 20th (the wettest of the year so far).

1st-12th: The 1st saw some heavy rain, but although the early part of the month was rather unsettled, rainfall amounts were on the small side generally. Temperatures average to rather warm.

13th-20th: Very wet- over half the months rain in these 8 days alone. Torrential downpours at times, especially on the 20th. Mostly cloudy with just some sunny intervals. Temperatures rather cool to average in the main.

21st-24th: Still quite unsettled, but as with the start of the month, lesser amounts of rain. Sunny spells more prevalent, with temperatures rather cool to average still.

25th-31st: A little rain at times and rather cloudy. Average to quite warm temperatures.
