Wow what is this thing you call a thunderstorm? One in the UK preposterous! how dare you speak of such events! pah! :D

Thats a nice storm, tbh ive never actually seen a storm of that intensity in the uk before only in foreign countries like the US and Mexico (where i was nearly killed by lightning)!

Is there a reason why we just dont get storms like this anymore, is there a scientific reason or is it down to luck? (sorry for jacking the thread) :)

It was VERY close, NaDamantaSam. Using freeze frame software, the end result, hence the massive crack of thunder that followed almost instantaneously.

I think that storm was only videoed in 07/08 - we do get storms like that still, the problem is the weather patterns have been increasingly unfavourable for them on a more regular basis!

This year in particular has been the worst I've ever experienced - even including the US chase I've had just 7 thunder days this year and its already August! Depressingly shocking!!

Beautiful storm! Frequent lightning, loud thunder (very loud at one point!). Nice to see that strong-to-severe storms do indeed occur in England.
