Wow what is this thing you call a thunderstorm? One in the UK preposterous! how dare you speak of such events! pah!

Thats a nice storm, tbh ive never actually seen a storm of that intensity in the uk before only in foreign countries like the US and Mexico (where i was nearly killed by lightning)!

Is there a reason why we just dont get storms like this anymore, is there a scientific reason or is it down to luck? (sorry for jacking the thread)

It was VERY close, NaDamantaSam. Using freeze frame software, the end result, hence the massive crack of thunder that followed almost instantaneously.

I think that storm was only videoed in 07/08 - we do get storms like that still, the problem is the weather patterns have been increasingly unfavourable for them on a more regular basis!

This year in particular has been the worst I've ever experienced - even including the US chase I've had just 7 thunder days this year and its already August! Depressingly shocking!!

Beautiful storm! Frequent lightning, loud thunder (very loud at one point!). Nice to see that strong-to-severe storms do indeed occur in England. :lol:
