Can anyone give me a brief overview on how to forecast a streamer during the winter, and what types of charts I should be looking at to do so? My current understand is that it has something to do with convergent lines?

Thanks in advance.

From what I understand, if you look at how the winds are aligned relative to coastal features, then that gives a good idea to streamers.

For example, if the isobars are aligned in a ENE-WSW direction, there is a good chance of a Thames Streamer. If the winds are NE-SW, then a Kent or Channel Streamer is possible. (depends on other things such as airmass types and such).
