Finally! Another named storm in the East Pacific. It's been a long time since Frank dissipated, and Georgette, the first storm of September (!) in the East Pacific has formed just off the southern tip of Baja California. Intensity is 35kts. Georgette is going to make landfall tonight and then dissipate over Baja. The storm will deliver very heavy rains as it is quite moisture laden, which is likely to cause flooding.

Georgette has made landfall as a 35kt tropical storm. Georgette will likely weaken to a tropical depression overnight before moving over the Gulf Of California and making a second landfall on Mexico itself tomorrow.

Georgette weakened to 30kts over Baja California, but is now over the Gulf Of California, and some very deep convection is exploding over and to the north of the LLC. Tropical Depression Georgette is likely to deliver some very heavy rains to Mexico then possibly the southwest USA in the next few days. Flooding is a strong possibility as there is a lot of moisture associated with Georgette.

Georgette has degenerated into a remnant low over the mountains of Mexico. The remaining moisture from this system could enhance rainfall across the southwestern USA this week.
