The last week of October 1920 was exceptionally sunny with no clouds over large parts of the UK. Cromer, St Leonards and St Heliers all averaged 8.9hrs of sunshine per day for that last week, close to 90% of the maximum possible duration.

At night, there were a number of reports of the unusual brilliancy of the moonlight during that week.

Felixstowe recorded 207hrs of sunshine for the month, Ipswich 200hrs.

Earlier in the month there was a pleasant Indian summer spell with maxima into the very low 20Cs

Sheepstor in Devon recorded a maximum of 22.7C on the 9th

It didn't happen for that year of 1920, some places had a sunnier October than July but it did during 1921.

One thing of note. Seathwaite, normally a very wet place, was very dry this month with just 17% of the expected rainfall. It was infact, one of the driest places in Britain in terms of the % of the expected rainfall for this month.
