Hey Pat, yes I did , normally you have to pay for the card but I found a deal for a free one. Without running the numbers I reckon Caxton and Fairfax are fairly much the same , you get a better rate on Fairfax, but you have a 1.50% transaction fee added on. With Caxton you get a slightly lower fx rate but you don't pay the transaction fee .

I was planning to use cold hard cash when I was out there as I'm not so sure Mastercard is as widely used as Visa.............I maybe wrong :pardon:

Hi all

for what its worth i have found cash to just be as effective in the states as credit cards either visa or mastercard but more so american express if anybody is looking to get a credit card take a look at lloyds air miles duo card as it is both american express and master card but you get more air miles if you use american express depending on your spend and repaymnets could mean a free flight back to the usa next time.:good:

it all depends how much cash your comfortable in carrying around with you?

I've had a Caxton FX card for a couple of years now and they are brilliant. Any money you don't use stays in your account and you can then use it in any other country in the world. No need for changing money at post offices and no worries about losing cash.

Who is everyone using for insurance? Just like last year, I can only find go-walkabout who do Storm Chasing insurance.

Go walkabout again here Michael, didn't see you sneak back on to tour 4! See you out there :D

I'll be using FairFX card again this year. Was good last year and only cost a couple of dollars to do a withdrawal (was taking 300 or so out at a time) and still have a couple hundred left from last year :D

Cheers Arron, Go-Walkabout were pretty good to me last year when there was the whole worry about the volcano so I think I'll stay with them again. See you on tour 4. :drinks:

Lol What A Tool That Presenter Is.

The Lightning Flashing in the Buildings at 48secs is in fact a Power Flash from the Tornadoes Circulation hitting power lines.

How do these people get jobs.

Btw usual course of action if Severe Weather is anticipated at DFW Is to divert planes to Austin and then get coached up the I-35 Back to DFW. Dallas Fort Worth does have it's own Tornado Shelter as well in the Airport.

Ye Paul, i was like " ehh clearly they where power flashes", ha , theres distinct differences!

Ah righty, well hopefully nobody has to get delayed in such circumstances.

And storm shelter is always good to have! ha
