Starting out the walk it was evident the sky was clear from the High Pressure overhead. Making my way up the small peak of Eccles Pike by midday, I summited to see the sight of all of Manchester being enveloped by a sea of Fog stretching as far as the horizon took it. I waited some time to see if the Inversion would push into the valley however I knew a better view would be found on Chinley Churn.

Making my way back down the slopes of Eccles Pike and back up the other side of the valley to Chinley Churn didn't take long, barely an hour. And slowly the fog began to encroach along the valley passage. Gradually cloaking up Furness Vale and the small hamlet of Buxworth before Sunset.
