Not dark enough here yet, and there's a north north westerly horizon full of cloud. Dam.

I have two good cameras - an Olympus E400 and a Canon G11. Both were in my office on Saturday night as I drove home and saw the best display in my life. That's why I had to resort to a blackberry and why the pictures are rubbish.

I prefer Tayberries personally....

I think this is what OON might well have seen......

Very early yet but there are the makings of a good display in the NNW - N sector. Up to about 20 deg elevation. More detail should show as the sky darkens.

I've just had a good lean out of the flat window - and I can't decide if the large patchy rippled cloud to the NNW is noctilucent or cirrus illuminated by the sun just under the horizon. Going to give it half an hour.

Definitely NC Shuggee! They are very bright for this early in the night with a lot of fine structure, spreading from NNW though N to NNE and up to 30 deg elevation. Could be developing the best display for a long time

Lol!

I always take my cue from Capella shining through the cloud

Typical - I pop outside and some patchy (normal) high cloud has appeared. Cup of tea, then try again.

Absolutely stunning display. That whole area of the sky is full of them.

Super display from here last night but unfortunately I was working today so had to turn in just after midnight. Bit of cloud about here now and nothing showing as yet.

A rubbish photo from last night (@00h25), taken through the bedroom window - but you get the idea....

Theres a very bright display to the North tonight. Unfortunately Ive got a pretty poor view from here as theres tall trees in that direction.

Its actually the first time Ive seen any this year due to too much cloud most of the time!

I've been out tonight and there is a stunning display, in fact, it's probably one of the best I've ever seen in 6 years of watching. Admittedly it's the first I've seen this year but I haven't really been out much at the right time of night.

Best display of noctilucent clouds Ive seen in a very long time, so I decided to have a meander down to the sea front at 2am armed with my camera and tripod only to find out when I got there that the battery in the camera was completely exhausted of life..!! (forgot to charge it after an afternoon of time-lapsing storms)..

Anyway still managed a few shots although they are quite poor as they were taken with my now outdated Nokia N95..

I'm down Cornwall until Friday starting tomorrow, I will set my alarm for 3am on Thursday as that looks like a clear night, would be great to see some of these over the sea!

Looked out just before midnight and it was shaping up for some very bright structures. We had a lot of low cloud to the North so regretably not worth trying to photograph. I think it's a conspiracy! :wallbash:
