By the Vicar Samuel Warren of Ashford from 1676

"There fell a great deal of snow on April 22 being Good Friday. Hills meadows, houses all covered with snow and on May Day following and on the 4th of May fell much snow that in some places there were drifts, it was above a yard deep and lay several days on the hills, which we could see several miles off and all this time very cold weather and so continued about 10 days. It was very wet and cold to the 5th of June."

April 1676 had a CET of 7.5, May 1676 had a CET of 10.5 but interestingly June had a CET of 18.0, one of the warmest on record.
