A video grab from Tour 1, Day 7 - the late night/early morning lightning chase. Tom nearly lost his camera, and fortunately Ian C had just called people back into his car, scarily close....

I think that might be the diffraction you sometimes get of the camera lens - see how it's a replica of the top bolt that goes behind the hill or trees.

I think you would know if it had actually gone in front of that truck lol..

I did think it might be a diffraction/reflection, but it is very short lived compared to the actual sky lightning (a single frame). But I've never been one to let a fact get in the way of a good drama, lol

You're not a journalist for the Daily Mail by any chance? :yahoo:

I love it when lightning is caught on video - particularly those running at a high fps where you can pause and see detail like streamers and leaders.

Haha, Guess I could be wrong, I've just known many times people to think diffraction/reflection in the camera lens is a very close strike. I guess it is possible to catch 'leaders' on camera though..

    and it's a nice catch anyway :)
