an odd difference between NAE and Extra this morning on the 00z run.

NAE suggests over 10mm for my area with Extra only showing 2mm, somewhat more east and west of here. Previously they had both gradually increased the predicted rainfall total, yesterday both showing 8-14mm.

Extra is already out with 3.6mm so far and the radar showing 4-5mm for DN4 and more to come before it edges away east on the cold front.

Cold and dreary with light rain, weve stayed under the light rain all morning to with heavy stuff west & east, i think exciting weather has become near impossible yesterday was the 10th this month to have 0 hours of sunshine and the 25th to have less than 5 hours.

Continuous moderate rain all morning, the total since abouot 0300 g.m.t, when it started, must be about 15mm now.

The wind has veered NW and increased to f3, the temp' is 10.1c.

I can hardly restrain myself from adding that it's a glorious day. If only there was hill fog too!

Its been a beautiful summer's day in London, i was out in the warm sunshine at 9am and have enjoyed being out in the garden all day.

Clouding over now, rain may be on its' way but its been a decent bank holiday weekend here , despite the doom mongers saying it would be rubbish.

One surprising upshot of the rain being further north and west than expected is that Norwich had a warm and sunny (if rather windy) morning with some broken cloud and a high of 22C at Norwich Airport. The bits and pieces of rain that have occurred in the second half of May here haven't helped the vegetation which still has a distinctly "semi-arid" appearance. It is now 17C and cloudy with some organised rain approaching from the west, so it will be interesting to see if that helps the vegetation at all.

Perceptions of the month's sunshine may well be skewed as the first half had above average sunshine in all regions according to Philip Eden's stats at Climate-uk (slightly above in the west, much above in the east) but the second half has been rather cloudier, with below average sunshine in the west and near average sunshine in the east. Thus, while the mean is still running above average in central and eastern regions it has dropped a little below in the west.

Stats don't mean everything though, you only need to look at the last few years for that!

Only scraped 11c today with rain on and off, i suspect though by 8pm it will be cloudless as usual.

For me 5 days out of 30 days of nice weather doesn't make a good month but no-one could understand how dull its been

here unless you live here , yes sunshine stats above average overall even here (the misleading first 4 days must of gave well over 40 hours) but ever since any sunshine (for more than 5 seconds) has been from 5-9am and 6-9pm and the evening sunshine has usually been from cold fronts clearing so everythings been to soaked to sit in the garden anyway

However its been a very decent month again for those South and East of Birmingham so above average sunshine and temperatures are hardly suprising there.
