A warm and rather humid but cloudy start. Sheet of As brightness hinted at in chinks.

Uniformly grey and overcast here, which was not what was forecast yesterday, but the swallows are flying high which is a portent of good weather, supposedly. and it is mild morning at about 17c.. I have just checked the met office site and decided not to go to the beach in Dorset for a nice sunny warm day as they have just changed the forecast to cloud and 18c. It's going to be warmer and sunnier where I live (nr Yeovilton) so I guess that saves some petrol anyway. It looks like that front is advancing down a bit faster than originally thought as rain is forecast mid to late evening.

Staying dry overnight with variable cloud. A bright start with sunny spells, but a sheet of Stratocumulus spread in from the north west around 06:30 GMT. The cloud began to break close to observation allowing further sunny spells.

Yesterday:

Rain cleared shortly after midnight and it turned chilly for July, low 6.0c with 4.0c on the grass. The day dawned with shallow mist and fog patches over the near by fields, though this was burned off quickly in the sunshine. Sunny spells through the morning, though becoming increasingly hazy as a sheet of Cirrostratus advanced from the north east towards observation. Weak sunny spells continued through the morning, though by early afternoon it became rather dull for a short time before broken skies returned by mid afternoon allowing for further sunny spells. Breezy, feeling cool at times.

Sun did get through for a few minutes but cloud has reasserted itself here. Very breezy - and we even had a short shower mid-morning which was not forecasted anywhere! I guess I have to accept yesterday as the good day and hope that the high pressure reasserts itself properly for next weekend.

After a sunny start low Stratocumulus spread in from the West mid morning and it's been cloudy/bright since. Surprisingly

stuffy feeling day, 19.3c with 68% humidity.
