[Isolated Frost]

An exceptionally warm night - low of 16C, today's maxima, 22C, under cloudy skies with some scattered sunshine, was the warmest since 15th July. One of the top five warmest maxima of the year - and the second highest minima of the year. Crazy.

[Thundery wintry showers]

Just had an impressive shelf cloud and heavy rainstorm, no thunder though. The overnight minimum here was 14.7C so not quite as unusual as in some other areas.

The early morning fog and drizzle cleared by 0800 g.m.t and it became warm and breezy with sunny intervals from mid-morning through to late afternoon.

Showers moved in from the south west by late afternoon/ early evening with a few moderate-heavy bursts of rain mixed in but the heaviest showers fell a few miles south and south east of here.

A torrential downpour has just passed through here, aswell as some lightning.Heaviest rainfall ive seen in quite a while.

Up until then it had been a rather cloudy day with some sun at times.Max temp was 24c and it's currently at 20c.

Currently I'm in a farmhouse near Ferryhill, in central Co.Durham. Despite a very mild high of 22C, and despite a strong, and extremely warm SW flow, we currently have clear skies with only some clouds, temperatures have fell to 14C, from 20C at 6pm. However, I fully expect more cloud cover to arrive overnight.
