Cold Outbreak Of Late November - Early December 1875

    There was an early season wintry outbreak at the end of November 1875

    This brought a snowy spell to the southeast of the UK for the first week of December.

    Some reports

    Hailsham: December began with slight snow increased on 2nd to a heavy fall

    Cork: 2nd to 11th, strong frost every night, skating during almost the entire interval

    Croydon: 6 inch deep snow on the 3rd

    Addington: 9 inch deep snow on the 3rd

    Canterbury: 14 inches of snow on the 6th

    Bromley: 9 inches of snow by the 6th

    Forest Hill: 6 inches of snow by the 6th

    Culford: Snow almost daily from 1st to 9th

    Shifnal: 3 inches of snow on the 6th

    25th November-8th December CET: 0.8C

    The 2nd half of December 1875 was much milder and unsettled and the CET ended up as 4.2C
