Heidi formed yesterday evening north of Port Hedland, NW Australia. Heidi is currently strengthening as it moves southwards towards the coast, and currently has an intensity of 50kts. Some further strenghening is possible before landfall near Port Hedland in about 12hrs time as shear is low, sea temps are in excess of 30C, and outflow is good, especially in a poleward direction, where a channel has developed. Heidi will deliver flooding rains to the area as well as the potential for damaging winds.

Heidi peaked at 55kts. The small cyclone is currently moving inland very near Port Hedland. Damaging gusts of wind, thunderstorms and torrential rainfall is being reported. As Heidi is small, the cyclone will weaken quickly over land.
