This one more for historical purposes, this was the 31st August 1997, the day Princess Diana was killed in a car crash. The news of her death wiped out the TV schedule on BBC 1 and although Countryfile had been scrapped, the weekly forecast amazingly survived and John Kettley did the forecast. I think the only thing broadcast that day on BBC 1 that was not connected to the death of Diana. Don't remember any other BBC forecasts for that day.

Is it me or did John Kettley sounded slightly emotional at the end?

I have a distinct memory of that day having quite a thundery morning and lunch time, it's interesting how certain days with historical

events are easy to recall weather wise.

Completely agree.

The graphics now are just awful!

Yes, definitely a slight wobble in his voice at the end. He probably felt under a lot of pressure, normally forecasts end with a cheery "bye bye for now" sort of line, but that would have come across as being a bit inappropriate in the circumstances.
