Chase Day 13 - Se Colorado & Ok Panhandle

The team are targeting SE Colorado / Oklahoma panhandle area today. It's a 'see text' risk day today, with a chance of supercells later.

Should be back now. Had a problem with the laptop overheating so had to let it cool down under the aircon for 15 minutes. Back up and running now and sat under a CU field with cells trying to pop up!

We're going to start to head north ready for tomorrow's chase, this just doesn't look like doing anything but we'll be driving alongside a wee storm so if anything happens we'll be next to it

Team Stu started the day in Lamar, Colorado and picked a target of NE Colorado (Wray) for storms to form off the dryline. And move NE into deeper moisture. I am still shocked that I re-targeted and intercepted tail end storms near to White river South Dakota!!

The tail end cell looked good for a while (Even had a reported Wall cloud) which I did not see. I am now in Valentine Nebraska and will 100% hook up with the NW team tomorrow.

Today (Wed) looks promising with activity likely to peak around 01z (8 pm CDT) and supercells forming in Nebraska to northeast Colorado, spilling into northern Kansas during the outbreak. It will be extremely hot in the regions south of I-70 with highs likely to reach 40 C in southwest KS and the OK-TX panhandle regions. Around 32 C in northern KS and 25 C in Nebraska. Cells may develop along a frontal boundary but there should be a trend for strongest activity to form late afternoon near CO-NE border (that in itself spells tornado) and run approximately parallel to KS-NE border.
