Bit dissapointed in today in the fact it remains damp and cloudy ... need the sun to come through while there is still enough time for solar heating to occur.

Even if we dont get anything today seen a good few strikes yesterday and some of the thunder was real loud.

More rain but does look far lighter than it has been. Looks as if it might be steady for a while rather than torrential/thundery

One short moderate shower earlier but despite some impressive clouds, no storms AGAIN here...

Yesterday was warm and largely sunny here before the clouds came in and we had some interesting skies and rumbles of thunder, skies cleared for a nice night too so all in all yesterday was a pretty decent summer day. Today was wet and muggy and the atmosphere felt very unstable and we had a few rumbles earlier.

Yes, went on and off for about two hours. One strike near our house set of several car alarms and fair shook the ground around half past midnight.

A friend of mine took this pic yesterday, it definitely looks like a funnel cloud to me. I wish I wasnt working yesterday or I would have seen it myself because this is only a 5 min walk from me.

Nice day now cloud breaking rest of hay cut this morning sun coming through , a bit humid light N wind and currently 21c. Picking strawberries this afternoon and sun felt really hot. Now late afternoon and hay cut this morning is crackling in the sun already.Put my hand on the bout and it was really hot.Thermometer lying on the bout of hay was reading 31c.Great !!!! making hay without using a tractor and diesel. Mean old farmers ideal weather. Will probably flip it over tomorrow to dry underneath if weather holds.

This wee corner of the Lomonds appears to have acquired a rain shield. Been bone dry today while clouds build to other side of Loch Leven and over into Edinburgh.

I'm sure it will fail though ;-)

Plenty of pictures of Scottish funnel clouds here. http://pinterest.com/netweather/storms-august-4-and-5th-uk/.

I've struggled to find a clear cut funnel in the past few days but I have seen areas of moisture and rough areas of cloud cover building from the base of the cloud cover into conical shapes.

The cloud cover surrounding the funnel caught by Ross B is quite similar to what I've seen recently.

Missing all of the showers here so far... I did just hear a very faint rumble of thunder from the storm moving off to the south which bypassed Livi.

Lashing down here again. No flashing lights and boom box accompanying it sadly.

As for the buggy thing....

After using fly spray at problem times in the past, I have returned to the use of a traditional fly swat. Far more satisfying - particularly a direct hit on a fast moving target....

Think you can move fast ya we baistart, watch this fly boy...diablo.gif

Cloudy start, one heavy shower then cloudy and dry before a late apearance from the sun. Again no thunder. :-(

Good old-fashioned rolled-up newspaper SPLAT against the window is a favourite with me but we rarely get it warm enough for more than the one or two here. House fly squidge on Tory MP's photo is always a bonus.
