Dry and bright - not a bad start to my B-day

A very wet morning here with low light levels and this narrow band of frontal rain making things very unpleasant out and about. looking forward to some beefy showers later. Can't see much lightning from this band though but some lightning echoes showing to the West, notably over SE Ireland with the odd one scattered about elsewhere with a strike recently reported over Exmoor.

Rain cleared around 22:00 GMT last night with clear spells following. The day dawned clear and bright. Sunny spells to observation, cloud bubbling up quickly. There were further sunny spells through to early afternoon, by mid afternoon high and medium level increased to mostly overcast, so only a few further brief, bright and hazy spells of sunshine. There were a couple of brief light showers in the vicinity during the early evening, but none fell at this station.
