Here's a classic set-up for an East Anglian washout, a slow moving low pressure in the North Sea with its wrap around occlusion and a northerly blast cutting through East Anglia producing appalling conditions and continuous driving rain.

It happened 31st August/1st September 1994

146mm at Ditchingham and 62mm at Norwich Weather Centre

Then on the 28th August 1996, a low developed and pushed westwards with its wrap around occlusion pushing into East Anglia. 87.1mm at Coltishall, 83.1mm at Hemsby and 71.1mm at Norwich Weather Centre on the 29th
