Vantage Pro 2 rain gauge sticking

A couple of times now (probably during very small rain rates) the rain bucket tipping mechanism has stuck in the horizontal position ( ie held there by the magnet). No input of water will release it from that position and so nothing is recorded until it is manually released.

Is this a known feature? Can it be avoided? Does it indicate a specific fault?
