I am right in the middle of the two areas of light ppn, but it looks like I might get sandwiched shortly as the ppn over S Essex seems to be building and heading West.

Meanwhile it continues to build in the West/SW and South of London.

If this misses me now I will be peeved, cos my table outside isn't even damp yet.

hi sno

looks like this might be here a while

if that snake gets up the estuary that would be fun

reckon you will get some very soon

still reasonably heavy here

Here is the latest radar, showing some continued build over South Essex, while areas to the W/SW/S of London are still seeing a build-up.

Still positive signs, need a few more runs to be convinced.

Dont think the upper air is cold enough to cause any heavier bursts of sleet/snow.

You really need 850s around -8/-10c to initiate stronger ppn.

Regards,

Tom.

Feb 2009 didn't really have strong precip, it was just around 10hrs of moderate steady snow

Think all depends on the snake really, the snake ending up in the estuary is the difference between 2-5cm across the region and 20cm+

Has anyone by chance got a radar grab of the Feb 2009 event to hand?

Just interested to see how it looked compared to what may possibly hopefully be about to happen.

My location (south of Oxford) got about 10inches back then from that legendary Thames streamer. It can go reach right across the UK if gets going properly.

She will suck up moisture in the estuary and intensify surely?

Ok, just applied visual test here in Anerley, looking ENE from here you can normally see the lights on Shooters Hill, I'm pleased to say they've faded from view, which suggests some heavier ppn falling between here and Bexleyheath, will keep a close watch on lamppost now.

Anybody on from Bex/Heath/ Dartford way?

Cheers,

Tom

Depressingly, the ppn has faded north of the Thames, wondering if people North of the river will get any snow from this at all.

Belgian snake also showing signs of fading. Grrrrrr

The leading edge of the snake seems to be fading but it is catching up with a blob of intense stuff so that might spark the snake into life plus the back edge still seems pretty potent so everything to play for

Erm, I'm sorry CWT, I've got to take issue with that. I was in Lee S.E.10 at the time there were some cells in that streamer that produced some heavy snow, even with 4 cracks of thunder in the early hours of the morning!

Do you remember this?

Cheers,

Tom

That was near Dartford, think you can see M25 in background.

Cheers,

There are going to be a lot of surprises in Buckinghamshire, N Surrey, Berkshire and SW of that if the ppn keeps building to the West of London... Doing very nicely.

As far as the action coming into London, it looks like it is fading quickly... some brighter echoes to the SE of London, but the Belgian snake is fizzling out.

A few flakes of snow in the breeze now. I hope I at least get some visible flakes before it all dies??!!??

Yup!!! Have been right on the edge of ALL todays precipitation.

Very tiresome. Just five mins of big flakes floating down would make me very, very happy right now.
