Tonight's Winter Sunset Timelapse

Had an attempt at a timelapse today for the first time.

Never tried anything like this before, my camera records in 1080p, but the quality clearly doesn't represent 1080p.

A nice sunset video, i think there is some increase in the amount of dust in the atmosphere at the moment, making the sunsets vivid.

Can I ask how you did this?

I just bought an 'intervalometer' (I think!) which can make my SLR take stills at set intervals.

Then I think I have found a downloaded preset for lightroom to stitch them all together.

Not tried it yet except the camera thing does work.

In theory this should be able to produce true HD timelapse sequences.

That sounds like a very complicated device haha!

I videoed the sunset over a period of 20 minutes & then used Windows Live movie maker to speed up the video x32 and exported in 1080p quality (which the camera records in)

So I'm not sure if this counts as a timelapse as such, but I thought it was pretty cool to try.

Good video Backtrack - my Samsung digital camera cannot use an intervalometer (at least, I don't think it can). I made a time lapse of fog coming in and out by recording it for 20 - 30 mins and then editing it in Windows Movie Maker, but with an intervalometer I could make a time lapse for a lot longer, hours even, so I need to invest in a DSLR camera.

This is the EOS intervalometer (God that's a clumsy word) - it is quite simple to use - the Canon version is little different but over £100!

I only have a bridge camera so I don't think there will be much I can do to it tbh! The video isn't 1080p either, the quality should be much better. I need an upgrade I think, but can't complain at a first attempt!

The video you posted refuses to buffer looks incredible too!

Edit: I got it working, that's brilliant!

This is the first try with the timer thing, just 10 seconds but 300 frames taken over 5 minutes.

Quite a way to go yet for anything to be pleased with! I found another program which is supposed to smooth out the jitter and flicker which I want to try next.

(Edit - sorry, it's still processing until about 5pm!)
